Challenge
What a restaurant needs to take orders online
Food is mostly ordered from a phone. The website has to be fast and clear, and the operator has to receive each order immediately.
Delivery is available only in a certain zone, and the fee depends on the distance
The operator must see and confirm an order quickly
Orders cannot be accepted outside working hours
Guests speak three languages: Georgian, English and Russian

Solution
How the online menu and ordering work
The website follows a mobile-first approach. On mobile it has a bottom navigation bar, so it feels like an app. The menu is divided into categories with images: sets, sushi, rolls, bento boxes, soups, drinks and more. Sorting and a price filter make it easy to find the right item.
The website runs on a VPS with LiteSpeed and Redis, which makes pages load fast. See the menu and ordering on the Tokyo House website.
If you are planning a similar system, take a look at the website development service and its pricing.

Delivery zone
How the delivery fee is calculated on the map
At checkout, the customer drops a pin on the map or fills in the location automatically with the โDetect locationโ button. The delivery fee is calculated automatically.
If the address is outside the delivery zone, the order cannot be placed. This way the operator never receives an order that cannot be delivered.
Payment is made online by card, or in cash on delivery.

Technical side
Features that simplify the ordering process
Each feature answers a specific everyday need of the restaurant.
Orders in Telegram
A new order arrives in a Telegram bot. The operator accepts or declines it from the chat, and the order status on the website updates automatically. The links are protected.
Add-ons and ingredients
A dish can get a paid add-on or lose an ingredient. This matters for guests with allergies.
Cart suggestions
In the cart, the customer sees related products, for example a drink or an extra dish.
Working hours
Outside working hours, the cart and checkout switch off automatically and no orders come in.
QR menu on tables
Tables in the restaurant have a QR code. A guest scans it with a phone and opens the digital menu.
